Washington, 13 November (WashingtonTV)—A suicide bomber struck near a US military base on the outskirts of Kabul on Friday morning, killing two Afghans and wounding at least six others.
A police official in Kabul said that three foreign soldiers, possibly Americans, were wounded, and another three civilians were also wounded, reports AFP.
A Taliban spokesperson said in a message sent to the Associated Press that the attack was carried out by a Taliban suicide car bomber targeting an international military convoy.
The base, Camp Phoenix, houses mainly US troops who are helping train Afghan police and armed forces, reports CNN.
Other NATO member nations also maintain a presence at the base.
The attack struck about 400 meters from the camp’s main gate, and damaged several other vehicles, reports AFP.
The Afghan capital has been hit by a rising number of suicide bombings claimed by the Taliban, whose insurgency against Western forces is now at its deadliest since the beginning of the eight-year-old war.
