France, Russia warn Iran over new sanctions

11:00GMT—6:00AM/EST

Washington, 10 November (WashingtonTV)—French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, on Monday warned Iran that they would not “rule out” more sanctions against Tehran, if it fails to meet its obligations over its nuclear program.

The two leaders met in Berlin on the sidelines of celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Sarkozy’s office quoted the two men as saying that “the international community’s patience is not infinite,” reports the Associated Press.

The comments came amid mounting pressure on Iran to accept a United Nations-brokered nuclear fuel deal, which is aimed at easing Western concerns over Tehran’s nuclear program.

Iran has yet to formally respond to the proposal, and has asked the International Atomic Energy Agency to establish a technical commission to review its “economic and technical concerns” regarding the deal.
