Israel readying for attack inside Iran, says French magazine

10:40GMT—6:30AM/EST

Washington, 15 October (WashingtonTV)—Israel is preparing for possible military attacks inside Iran after December, a French magazine reported late on Wednesday.

The magazine, Le Canard Enchainé, said that during a recent visit to France, Isreali Defense Forces chief of staff, Gabi Ashkenzi, told his French counterpart, Jean-Louis Georgelin, that Israel was not planning to bomb Iran, but may send elite troops to conduct activities on the ground.

Those activities could include sabotage of nuclear facilities as well as assassinations of top Iranian nuclear scientists, the report said, according to the Jerusalem Post.

The report also said that Israel has ordered combat rations from a French food manufacturer for soldiers serving in elite units, and has also asked reservists from those units staying abroad, to return to Israel, reports the Israeli National News website.

Neither the Jerusalem Post nor the Isreali News Network could confirm the French magazine’s report.

Israel views Iran’s alleged pursuit of nuclear arms as one of the greatest threats to its security.

Tehran maintains that its nuclear program is peaceful.

The United States and Israel have not ruled out a military strike on Iran, if diplomatic measures fail to curb Tehran’s nuclear drive.
