Washington, 9 November (WashingtonTV)—The trial in Iran of French academic, Clotilde Reiss, is set to resume, Tehran general-prosecutor Abbas Jafa’ri Dolatabadi said on Monday.
Reiss, who was arrested on 1 July for having taken part in protests following June’s disputed presidential election, is being tried on charges of “collecting information and encouraging rioters.”
According to the official IRNA news agency, Reiss’ trial was to resume after a delay.
“Her lawyer requested a delay because of the death of a close relative of the accused and the court granted the delay,” Dolatabadi told IRNA.
He did not give a date for the next court hearing.
The 24-year-old was freed on bail on 16 August and is now staying in the French embassy in Tehran until the verdict in her case is passed.
France has dismissed all charges against Reiss and has demanded her unconditional release, reports AFP.
