Washington, 5 November (WashingtonTV)—Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday praised his country’s ties with Syria, and said conditions in the region were changing in the favor of the two countries.

Speaking during a meeting with visiting Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem, Ahmadinejad said that bilateral ties were rooted in the spirit of “revolution and resistance”, reports the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Tehran-Damascus relations are growing deeper, wiser and stronger every day, and will not be easily affected by different events,” said Ahmadinejad.

“Conditions and developments in the region are changing in the interest of Tehran’s and Damascus’s goals,” he added.

Ahmadinejad said that if the two countries coordinate their decisions, along with other countries in the region, “a large political, economic and cultural power will be formed in the Middle East.”

For his part, Muallem said that relations between Iran and Syria are so strong that no country could damage them.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran holds a special importance for Syria and this relationship should be as strong as possible, and this is to the benefit of all the countries in the region,” he said, according to the official IRNA news agency.
