Washington, 19 October (WashingtonTV)—Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Monday implicated the United States in a deadly terrorist attack in southeastern Iran, which killed at least 42 people.
In a statement, Khamenei offered his condolences to the families of those killed, and vowed that Iran would punish those behind the incident.
“The crime of the bloodthirsty terrorists in Baluchistan revealed more than ever before the evil face of the enemies of security and unity, who are supported by spy agencies of some governments of the global arrogance,” he said, according to the official IRNA news agency.
Iran usually refers to the United States when using the term “the global arrogance”.
Khamenei told Iran’s “enemies” that Sunday’s attack would not harm the unity among Iran’s religions and tribes.
“The powerful hand of the Islamic system will reach the aggressors of the people’s life, property and security, for their treacherous action,” he warned.
The Sunni rebel group, Jondollah, has claimed responsibility for the attack, which killed several senior commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps.
The United States, Britain and Pakistan have all rejected Tehran’s accusations of having a role in the attack.
