Ocasio-Cortez's office released the resolution to reporters on Wednesday night with a separate FAQ document that seemed to contradict some aspects of the resolution, including taking stances on nuclear energy and farming emissions that didn't appear in the official document.

The claim from the fact sheet that was met with the most blowback was a claim that the Green New Deal could provide "economic security for all who are unable or unwilling to work".

One student's initial perception of the deal was that it was "progressive" and would help "push the world forward".

"It's definitely a great idea".

That figure appeared to be based on a survey conducted in December, two months before the release of the Green New Deal resolution by the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication, was funded by a handful of liberal foundations, including anti-Trump billionaire Tom Steyer's TomKat Foundation. "From knowing who's endorsed it and some little things, it sounds great", mused another.

Murphy saidM, "I think it's absolutely realistic and we need to set our sights high". Global warming is a threat to the planet.

Asked at a Sunday town hall about the Green New Deal, Mr. Allred said, "I certainly support some of the goals of the Green New Deal, and I think we don't know all the specifics around it and that's where I think we're going to have to flesh out some of that", as shown in a Facebook video, adding that he supports expanding solar and wind power in Texas. "So we need to take care of ourselves".

"Anything that would reduce our dependence on fossil fuels is really important".

Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi did not explicitly endorse the Green New Deal, but welcomed "the enthusiasm" of its backers, AP reported. He said climate change is a "national emergency", but stopped short of calling it a swift end all, be all of manufacturing practices in the United States, as many opposed to it have painted it to be.

"I think that's drastic." the next student conceded. Asked if he thinks it sounds "feasible", another student said flatly, "No".

Hockett said Ocasio-Cortez does not want to ban airplanes or pay people "unwilling to work".
