  • Cavaliers shooting guard Alec Burks could be on the move before the Feb. 7 trade deadline

According to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Portland Trail Blazers and Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to a deal that sends 6-foot-7 wing Rodney Hood to Portland in exchange for Canadian Nik Stauskas and third-year guard Wade Baldwin IV. With the 11-42 Cavaliers now in complete rebuilding mode and Hood's looming free agency after the season, his tenure with the team was limited and his new destination was determined when the trade was announced.

The Blazers (32-20) are now the fourth seed in the West.

Since Hood was on a one-year qualifying offer with the Cavs, he had to okay to move to Portland, but the trade means he rescinds his Bird rights. During last season, Hood shoot better than 38 percent from 3-point range on seven attempts per game.

The Portland Trail Blazers have traded to acquire forward Rodney Hood from the Cleveland Cavaliers. It is possible they will deal Alec Burks or J.R. Smith before Thursday's trade deadline.

Contenders are interested in each because they are role players whose contracts will expire at season's end.

To make roster room, the Cavs released guard Kobi Simmons from his second 10-day contract.

Stauskas began the season as Blazers coach Terry Stott's perimeter sniper. The Michigan product was in his first season with the Blazers, having also played for the Sacramento Kings, Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets.
