  • Samsung Teases Foldable Galaxy Smartphone: Galaxy F?

In October 2018, D.J. Koh, the CEO of Samsung's mobile business, announced that a foldable smartphone would arrive in the near future, according to my report for the Deseret News.

Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S10 series on February 20th in San Francisco, with the phones expected to go up for preorder after the press conference and ship to buyers beginning March 8th.

Samsung Vietnam reportedly posted and removed a video teaser for an upcoming Samsung phone that is, well, foldable.

We now know that we're going to see at least one foldable phone at Mobile World Congress this month. A new leak suggests that there's a second foldable phone in the works as well - and that this would be a gaming phone.

Huawei released an official invite on Friday for the company's MWC event through Twitter. That rumour soon blossomed and not long after, the company confirmed it is indeed working on such a device. We don't have a name, specs, price - anything. The 5G foldable smartphone is expected to come equipped with the in-house HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC and the Balong 5000 modem.

Huawei's plans for a foldable smartphone haven't been a secret.

It seems like Chinese smartphone maker Huawei may overtake Samsung in launching the foldable smartphone.

After Samsung, LG and Xiaomi throwing their hat in the foldable smartphone segment, 2019 appears to be the year when the foldable form factor truly becomes mainstream.

In a race to bring the latest smartphone technologies in front of the world, foldable displays have managed to gain the prime spotlight. Moreover in its folded state, games could possibly be playable in the smaller display area as well, to keep the device compact and more ergonomic. The screen remains on the outside of the device once it's folded, similar to renders shared yesterday. In addition, the phone will be compatible with 5G.
