Former Trump adviser Roger Stone says he'll plead not guilty

  • Trump adviser Roger Stone arrested on seven charges

The charging documents included new details about the alleged activities of Trump aides, including an incident in which a senior campaign official "was directed to contact Stone about any additional releases and what other damaging information Organisation 1 had regarding the Clinton Campaign". It says Stone told campaign officials he had information indicating WikiLeaks had obtained documents damaging to Hillary Clinton's campaign.

Stone was only officially on the president's campaign for a few months, but would spin reporters, peddle conspiracies and, according to prosecutors, collaborate with WikiLeaks to release damaging information about Hilary Clinton in the final stretch of the 2016 campaign. One of the Trump campaign officials cited in the indictment is Steve Bannon, who later became Trump's chief strategist in the White House.

Stone insisted that he's innocent.

Mr Stone appeared in court in the city of Fort Lauderdale.

"They're now moving on to me and my father".

The president has tried in recent months to downplay his connections to Stone, who had a brief role as a top adviser in Trump's presidential campaign until August 2015 but has been a Trump supporter and adviser for decades.

After appearing in court Friday morning, Stone said he would prevail against the investigation and would not "make up lies" to deflect pressure being brought to bear on him.

Stone responded at the time, "I'd tell [the high-ranking Trump Campaign official] but he doesn't call me back". In a tweet Friday, Podesta wrote that it was now "Roger's time in the barrel".

US prosecutors, in the court filing, accused Stone of lying to Congress about his public statements and communications with others suggesting he may have had advance knowledge of plans by Wikileaks to release hacked emails and obstructing Congress' work.

Sam Nunberg, a Stone ally who also worked on the early stages of the Trump campaign, said the self-described "dirty trickster" would relish the legal spotlight. This morning, at the crack of dawn, 29 Federal Bureau of Investigation agents arrived at my home with 17 vehicles with their lights flashing, when they could simply have contacted my attorneys, and I would have been more than willing to surrender voluntarily. He added, "I don't know that he had an actual role in our campaign".

And Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow said, "The indictment today does not allege Russian collusion by Roger Stone or anyone else". STONE also said he would "take that dog away from you", referring to Person 2's dog.

Stone, a veteran political operative, is one of the closest Trump associates to be charged by Mueller, who is examining potential collusion between Trump " s campaign and Russian Federation. When Trump ultimately threw his hat in the race in the 2016 election cycle, Stone was by his side as a campaign adviser. Stone has also spoken openly about his contacts with Corsi. They had been partners in a Republican lobbying firm formed in 1980, which came to include Lee Atwater as a senior partner of its political-functioning arm.

Trump's former campaign chairman agreed to cooperate with Mueller in a plea deal announced in September. Since then he has denied any prior knowledge of the stolen emails.

The indictment accuses Stone of carrying out a "prolonged effort" to keep Credico from contradicting his testimony before the House intelligence committee.

"Over text message, Stone told Credico, "'Stonewall it. Stone has remained loyal, however.

A file photograph of Roger Stone. One pounded on the door and said, "FBI, open the door", the United States cable network says. Stone has repeatedly denied the accusation. He raised his arms in the V-for-victory pose made famous by his original political mentor, Richard Nixon - including on the day Nixon left the White House after his resignation. He serves now even as a men's fashion consultant for the conservative outlet Daily Caller.
