  • Giuliani So what if Cohen spoke to Trump about testimony

"President Trump was involved in discussions to build a skyscraper in Moscow throughout the entire 2016 presidential campaign, his personal lawyer said on Sunday, a longer and more significant role for Mr. Trump than he had previously acknowledged".

Whenever Rudy Giuliani gives a round of interviews to defend President Donald Trump in the Russian Federation scandal, there's a good chance he'll blurt out something that implicates his client in new wrongdoing or admit that Trump has been repeatedly lying about some element of the case.

Times reporter Maggie Haberman tweeted out the statement Trump's attorney put out "clarifying" his comments to the newspaper.

"Probably could be up to as far as October, November - our answers cover until the election", Giuliani said, referring to written questions Trump has answered from special counsel Robert Mueller, who for 20 months has been investigating Trump campaign ties to Russian Federation and whether Trump, as president, obstructed justice by trying to thwart the probe. "My comments did not represent the actual timing or circumstances of any such discussions".

He added: "The point is that the proposal was in the earliest stage and did not advance beyond a free non-binding letter of intent".

When Trump responded to Mueller's interview questions in writing past year, he told the special counsel he couldn't say definitely when the Moscow Trump Tower negotiations collapsed, Giuliani said. By Sunday, Giuliani was saying the Trump-Cohen talks didn't happen, but even if they did it's "totally normal".

Giuliani said Trump "remembers very little" about the Moscow Trump Tower negotiations, adding, "Michael Cohen keeps saying different things". "Cohen said the effort ended in January of 2016, and as far as President Trump knows, it ended then".

"The best he could do is, 'We talked about it, I knew he was running with it, I honestly didn't pay much attention to it, '" Giuliani said, characterizing Trump's memory.

President Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani told Fox News on Monday that his team communicated with Special Counsel Robert Mueller's office about last week's BuzzFeed News article alleging that Trump ordered his former lawyer attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress - and agreed a significant portion of it was false. "Each mistake has been a gift to the president, providing fodder for his case that any unflattering reporting about him amounts to 'fake news, ' and that the special counsel's investigation is nothing but a 'witch hunt'". "So any time during that period, they could have talked about it", he said.

"Imagine if a conservative outlet did this and ran with a story this flimsy and the Special Counsel's Office came out and said 'Actually this is not accurate.' Would they be allowed to go on CNN and be asked 'How does it make you feel?' They wouldn't; they would be condemned and they would be done", she said.

Also in his statements to "Meet the Press", Giuliani floated the possibility that Trump might have just forgotten about the so-called Moscow project.
