Eagles vs. Bears early wildcard preview

Understandably, Nagy saw the value in Trubisky gaining experience against a good defense in hostile environment after the Vikings had cut the lead to three in the fourth quarter. The Eagles have won five of their last six games.

Just when it appeared the Bears would be overtaken by a Vikings team desperately scrounging for a playoff berth and urged on by the momentum of a raucous home crowd, they put together a season-defining drive. "We know that we have to win this game in order to get into them". Sudfeld is the third-string quarterback of the Eagles who was pressed into duty Sunday after Nick Foles left the victory over the Redskins with a rib injury.

Punter Matt Wile helped keep field position from being a problem for the Vikings early on in the game. The Vikings managed a meager 164 total yards, with holes closing in the trenches and fissures developing on the sidelines. He took a sack by Anthony Barr that would've forced a punt from the Minnesota 45, but a holding penalty on Vikings safety Jayron Kearse gave Chicago a fresh set of downs. Nagy kept Mitchell Trubisky and the rest of his offensive starters on the field for Chicago's deciding touchdown drive, and for good measure, he called for Trubisky to throw the ball to reserve linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski for a successful two-point conversion. Running back Jordan Howard scored on the next play. Wims, a rookie, had catches of 16 and 9 yards on the Bears' third touchdown drive, which Tarik Cohen concluded with a 3-yard run with 7:46 to play.

Just like many things revolving around the Vikings, however, things didn't go exactly as many had planned. One bad penalty call (see below) led to a second touchdown for the Bears and with their tough defense the Vikings offense struggled to get back into it.

Scoreboard watching. Even though it would have been more relaxing to know ahead of time where the Vikings stood going into this game, it is more exciting (and nerve wracking) to have all the games with playoff relevance being played at the same time.

That doesn't mean Eagles coach Doug Pederson hasn't done his part to encourage the Bears, however. Trubisky mismanaged the play clock badly enough in the first half to burn a timeout and draw criticism from Troy Aikman in the FOX booth. They checked the boxes for winning on the road that they needed to check.

It felt like a home game for the Eagles.

But if they're not, that team is the Eagles. These squads have both wrapped up their regular seasons.
