Taylor Swift Has Been Monitoring Stalkers At Her Concerts Using Facial Recognition

  • Concertgoers who viewed a kiosk display set up at a Taylor Swift show in May were reportedly caught on camera by facial recognition software that was searching for stalkers

That may be changing soon, as Netflix just dropped the first trailer for Taylor Swift Reputation Stadium Tour, a concert documentary that chronicles the last show of the bestselling artist's US leg of her reputation album tour.

At the May 18 show, Swift's team used a facial recognition camera at a kiosk in the Rose Bowl which was playing clips of Swift's concert rehearsal, according to a report in Rolling Stone this week.

The snapshots obtained by the camera were then sent over to a "command post" in Nashville that compared them against a catalog of her stalkers, Downing said.

The tour's 19-song setlist primarily featured songs from Swift's latest album, but also mashups and renditions of hit songs from earlier in her back catalog.

However, many followers have taken the term a step further and turned it into actual stalking, resulting in fear and arrests for a number of A-listers - including Taylor Swift.

Spotify's one-time nemesis Taylor Swift has reportedly used controversial facial recognition tech on fans while they've been getting down to her sick beats.

Roger Alvarado, a 22-year old man who broke into her NY home in April, is due to be sentenced to six months in prison next month after pleading guilty to attempted burglary and criminal contempt. Another was arrested outside her Beverly Hills home with a knife in his vehicle as well as a mask.

A third stalker, Mohammed Jaffar, was also sentenced to six months in prison earlier this year after threatening Swift with violence and trespassing at another of Swift's NY homes. Swift announced on Thursday that a concert film of the tour is heading to Netflix.

Taylor Swift has yet to comment on the allegations.
