Why pictures of Donald Trump appear on Googling ‘idiot?’ Congresswoman asks Pichai

  • CEO Sundar Pichai says Google has 'checks and balances' against bias

Because that's the only explanation for the Monopoly Man being in Sundar Pichai's hearing and a Congressman thinking that iPhones are made by Google.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai explained why photos of United States President Donald Trump surface on the search engine when a user searches for the word "idiot", reported USA magazine Fortune.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of internet powerhouse Google, appeared on Capitol Hill Tuesday to testify before the House Judiciary Committee, where Republican lawmakers posed numerous questions to him about allegations of political bias at the search-engine giant. "If you don't want negative search results, don't do negative things". Looming over the tech industry is the possibility of government regulation meant to protect people's data and a deeper look into whether huge companies like Google, Amazon and Facebook need to be broken up.

Pichai went to Washington later in September to mend fences, meeting with some two dozen Republicans and indicating he also planned to meet with Democrats. If that changes, Mr. Pichai promised let lawmakers know about it.

King and Smith both asked Pichai about suspicions that Google manipulates its search algorithms to disadvantage conservative content.

Nadler called the notion of bias a "delusion" and a "right-wing conspiracy theory".

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., kicked off the hearing by noting a "widening gap of distrust" between tech companies and the American people.

Gaetz then asked about internal employee discussion groups such as the recently-revealed "resist" group in which employees discussed expelling Breitbart from Google AdSense on "hate" grounds.

Momentum is building in Congress for legislation to put stricter limits and privacy protections around the big tech companies' collection of data. "Can Google track me when I move?"

- What does Google know? Pichai refused to give a clear answer. Mr. Poe demanded a yes or no answer, but Mr. Pichai indicated it was complicated. But internal documents later surfaced that indicated the FTC's board had brushed off some recommendations of staff lawyers who believed Google was tinkering with its search results in way that stifled competition.

Governments around the world are becoming increasingly unnerved by the power being amassed by major technology companies with the dominance of Facebook in social networking, Google in search and Amazon in e-commerce raising the most concerns.

The phenomenon is known as "Google bombing", and has affected many other famous names in the past.
