  • US announces $5 mn bounty on anyone behind Mumbai attacks

"On behalf of the government of the United States of America and all Americans, I express my solidarity with the people of India and the city of Mumbai on the 10th anniversary of the Mumbai terrorist attack", he said. Three days of carnage killed 166 people, including foreign tourists, and wounded hundreds more.

"We welcome statement issued today by United States calling on Pakistan to uphold their UN Security Council obligations to implement sanctions against terrorists responsible for 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, including Lashkar-e-Taiba and its affiliates", the statement said.

The event concluded with the screening of HBO documentary on 26/11 Mumbai attacks, titled "Terror in Mumbai".

India blamed the attack on the Pakistani militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba, throwing relations between the nuclear-armed neighbors into a tailspin.

Residents are also expected to pay their respects at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, where Mohammed Kasab, the only gunman captured alive, and another attacker killed nearly 60 people and wounded at least 100 others.

From the mark it left on survivors and the families of the victims to the deep blow it struck to ties between India and Pakistan, the scars of the coordinated attacks that began on November 26th in 2008 still run deep.

Over 60 hours 4 attackers shot dead the guests and hotel staff, detonated the explosives and set parts of the building including its famous dome on fire.

In this photo taken on November 29, 2008 Indian soldiers take cover during a terror attack at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Mumbai. Six people were killed during the siege at Nariman House, including Rabbi Gavriel Holzberg and his wife Rivka, who was six months pregnant at the time.

Six Americans were among the Mumbai victims and the US State Department announced a $5 million prize for the capture of the remaining planners of the attacks.

In April 2012, the Department of State announced reward offers for information that brings to justice LeT founder Hafiz Mohammad Saeed and Hafiz Abdul Rahman Makki, another senior LeT leader.

It is an absolute affront to the victims of Mumbai and to their families who grieve them to this day, that after 10 years, those who planned these despicable acts have still not been convicted for their crimes, Sales said, echoing the statement of the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made a day earlier.
