  • With California's Raging Fires, Fear And Devastation

He ran across a few of Caddy's neighbours, but they hadn't seen her. "I would say 90%", she said. But she said she always feared a wildfire since she moved there 15 years ago, especially during recent years in which there's been nearly no rain. I probably spent from the time I got off of work here, watching six hours of consecutive LA news because there was a mandatory evacuation for the house we are now living in as well as my parents. "She's a strong, smart woman".

Now considered the largest fire in state history, that blaze left one person dead after burning through more than 450,000 acres - or more than 800 square miles.

The California wildfire known as the Camp Fire has killed at least nine people, many found in their cars trying to escape the flames. "Hearing the stories of people running down the highways to avoid the fire, knowing that people burned alive in their cars, I mean, it's heartbreaking for sure, and then you have a fire in my adopted home of Southern California, so it's been a tough week for sure, and myself and the guys from Southern California and Northern California, obviously our thoughts and our prayers are with those folks, not only the great firefighters fighting the fires, but all the people displaced in my home area, Butte County, and then obviously down south in the LA area", said Rodgers.

In Northern California, Sheriff Honea said the devastation was so complete in some neighborhoods that "it's very hard to determine whether or not there may be human remains there". The fire has already killed 23 people, destroyed 6,453 homes, and 260 other buildings, according to Cal Fire. The smaller Hill Fire covered 4,531 acres and was 70% contained.

But Cal Fire spokesman Bill Murphy warned that gusty winds predicted into Monday morning could spark "explosive fire behaviour". The severely burned bodies were discovered in a long residential driveway in Malibu, home to a multitude of Hollywood celebrities.

"We saw a wall of fire", she said.

Kim Kardashian West, Caitlyn Jenner, Orlando Bloom and Lady Gaga were just some of the other celebrities who revealed that they had to evacuate in the wake of the fires.

"Praying for everyone in Malibu, our city is up in flames".

The "Woolsey Fire" had consumed around 69,000 acres, destroyed at least 150 homes and was so far not contained, the Ventura County Fire Department said, adding that evacuation orders were issued for some 88,000 homes in the county and neighboring Los Angeles County.

The Woolsey Fire and the Hill Fire are also causing severe damage to parts of southern California. The large mobile home community of Seminole Springs, in the rugged Santa Monica Mountains north of Malibu, appeared devastated.

Several officials urged residents to heed evacuation orders.

Gov. Jerry Brown has requested a major disaster declaration from the president to help California residents affected by November's wildfires get access to extra resources, according to a news release from the governor's office.

Vehicles and homes burn as the Camp fire tears through Paradise, California.

"My house no longer stands but the memories shared with family & friends stand strong", she continued.

Breeding said Walker's husband was at work and called a neighbour to tell his wife to evacuate, but she was on medication and might not have been alert. Authorities confirmed her death late Friday.

"They were married for 20-something years".

"A fireman took him to the house to confirm", Breeding said.
