  • [VIDEO] Donald Trump, CNN's Jim Acosta Argue at Press Conference

The President's Press Secretary Sarah Sanders commented: "As a result of today's incident, the White House is suspending the hard pass of the reporter involved until further notice". He called CNN's Jim Acosta a "rude, awful person" and excoriated PBS' Yamiche Alcindor for asking "a racist question" when she attempted to probe him on whether his rhetoric was emboldening white nationalists.

Earlier in the press conference, Trump called CNN reporter Jim Acosta a "rude, awful person" in response to Acosta questioning the president's comments on what Trump calls the "migrant caravan".

Trump accused a PBS reporter of posing a racist question when she asked him about white nationalists.

The exchange came after Trump told an African-American reporter that her question on white nationalism was racist. "That is not an invasion".

"To say that as you said that to me is so insulting". When Acosta tried to follow up with another question, Trump said, "That's enough!" and a White House aide unsuccessfully tried to grab the microphone from Acosta.

Waving his finger, Trump berated him.

In response to the reporter's question, Trump said, "I don't believe it".

"You called yourself a nationalist, some people saw that as emboldening White Nationalists, some people say that now the Republican party is seen as supporting White Nationalists because of your rhetoric, what do you make of that?", Alcindor asked.

At one point in the questioning, Trump told Acosta: "Honestly, I think you should let me run the country, you run CNN and if you did it well, your ratings would be much better".

When NBC reporter Peter Alexander took the mic for the next question, he defended Acosta as a "diligent reporter" - earning Trump's ire.

"I'm not a big fan of yours, either", Trump replied.
