A personnel from National Transportation Safety Board examines debris from Lion Air flight JT610 at Tanjung Priok port in Jakarta, Indonesia, November 1, 2018.

The device recovered by divers is the flight data recorder and the search continues for the cockpit voice recorder, Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi told a news conference.

Lion Air said human remains were collected in 24 body bags after sweeps of the site, in waters about 30 to 35 metres (98 to 115 ft) deep roughly 15 km (nine miles) off the coast.

"The suspected cause of the accident is still being investigated and it is making us all curious what could have caused it", he said.

The aircraft belonging to Indonesia's low-priced carrier Lion Air which crashed shortly after take-off had suffered instrument problems the day before, a media report said.

"This morning I've been briefed by the head of Search and Rescue Agency about the strong possibility of the location coordinates of Flight 610", he said.

In a detailed post online, Conchita Caroline says boarding of the Bali to Jakarta flight was delayed by more than one hour and when the plane was being towed, a technical problem forced it to return to its parking space. "We believe the fuselage will be around there, we hope that our target can be found".

Flight 610 departed Jakarta early Monday and crashed into the sea shortly after takeoff.

Of the 189 passengers, no survivors were found, according to The Associated Press.

At one point, the passenger who shot the video, Paul Ferdinand Ayorbaba, zoomed in on the flight number on his boarding pass.

It showed passengers' boarding passes being checked and people walking along a concourse and then down stairs with bright red and white Lion Air jets visible on the tarmac.

The National Search and Rescue Agency said Tuesday that 10 intact bodies as well as body parts had been recovered.

Ground staff lost touch with flight JT610 13 minutes after the Boeing 737 MAX 8 took off early on Monday from Jakarta, on its way to the tin-mining town of Pangkal Pinang.

The country has had issues of safety and poor management in the past and its airlines were banned from flying into European airspace until 2016.

Lion Air, headquartered in Indonesia, operates flights in Malaysia flying between Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Jakarta and Surabaya.

Also on Thursday, the Indonesian Transport ministry officially asked more members of Lion Air's management to be relieved of duty so they could assist with the investigation.
