  • “The matter was conveyed to the pilot in command. The pilot in command reported that the aircraft systems were operating normally,” it said. Tiruchirappally Airport Director said CISF personnel on duty had informed the air traffic control about the

An Air India plane had to make an emergency landing after hitting the perimeter wall during takeoff at an airport in Trichy, India Friday morning. However, it was declared was declared fit for operations after inspection at Mumbai Airport.

The flight, which took off from Tiruchirappalli airport at 1.20 am, arrived in Mumbai at 5.35 am, The Times of India reported.

The pilot, Capt. D. Ganesh Babu, and first officer Capt. Anurag have been suspended from flight duties pending an investigation.

Air India said the two pilots were "derostered pending investigation" and the incident had been reported to India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation for an investigation.

Union civil aviation minister Suresh Prabhu said that he has spoken to Secretary and other senior officials and directed them to conduct a High-Level Enquiry into the incident. An AIX spokesperson said, "Trichy airport officials observed that the aircraft might have come in contact with the airport wall".

"The aircraft should not have been less than 100 feet when passing the antenna". It is possible that the thrust setting was wrong or the take-off was improperly handled. "Someone is trying to give it different spin".

It is yet to be ascertained whether a technical snag or pilot error was responsible for the incident, they added. Another flight has been arranged to take the passengers from Mumbai to Dubai, Air India said. But, it is equally important that our aviation safety infrastructure grows accordingly.

The aircraft took off early Friday from Trichy in Tamil Nadu when air traffic controllers warned the pilots they may have hit the wall.

DGCA has, in fact, ordered a high-level probe. "We need regular reviews of the certification of pilots and the crew", he said.

After the incident, an internal inquiry has been set up.

The 130 passengers inside the aircraft were shocked and panicked as the aircraft shook and tossed wildly.
