Henry Cavill posts wildly cryptic Instagram response to 'Superman' rumours

  • REPORT Henry Cavill is Out as Superman in the DCEU

In a short video, captioned "Today was exciting #Superman", Cavill wears a "Krypton Lifting Team" t-shirt, looking directly into the camera as a version of the Blue Danube waltz plays - a version which features barking dogs.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that talks had broken down for a Cavill cameo in the upcoming Shazam! movie, and he is now set to walk away amid a big shake-up to the DC Extended Universe.

But just when fans thought that all hope at a solid explanation of the Superman situation was gone, Cavill himself stepped up to the plate to respond to the social media-exploding reports. It's hard to know what to believe, so let's go through what we do know...

The answer to that one is tricky to pin down - and it's been made even more confusing by Henry Cavill's latest Instagram post, which the actor shared late Wednesday night. Warner Bros. made a decision to part ways the British actor, who has played the role of Kal-El in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

Henry Cavill has shared a cryptic video amid rumours that he is stepping down from his role as Superman.

The report also stated that actor Ben Affleck is also being said to depart his DCEU role as Batman, as a new, probably younger actor expected to take on the mantle in Matt Reeves' stand-alone film on the Caped Crusader.

According to the report, the studio is shifting focus to a Supergirl movie, which will not require Superman due to the age difference between the two characters.

Cavill posted a video Wednesday insinuating the door is not closed.

THR's Tatiana Siegel who broke the news about Cavill's departure said, "As for who broke up with whom, Warner Bros. was the one who chose to move on from Henry Cavill". I'm highly suspect that Warner Bros. would drop him from Superman just after they were trying to get him into one of their three upcoming films that are coming out within the next year.

However, while Jon might fit the traditional view of the superhero of choice, Michael might be what the studio is looking for as its new Superman, as Deadline reported Warner Bros.
