  • Chelsea fans are absolutely loving Callum Hudson-Odoi's performance against Arsenal

But, as Sarri prepares for the Community Shield against Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday, Sarri said he does not feel his new club are short-handed.

The Belgian worldwide goalkeeper has just one year remaining on his deal with Chelsea and has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

The club gave him prior permission to return late, but new manager Sarri, speaking after a penalty-shoot-out defeat to Arsenal in the International Champions Cup, was clearly frustrated by the issue.

"But, I hope that Courtois will be our goalkeeper".

Courtois is said to be angling for a move to Real Madrid to be closer to his children, who live in the Spanish capital following his spell with Atletico Madrid, but Sarri could not offer supporters much certainty.

"My will is staying at the club, unless they want to sell me".

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has revealed that he will meet Thibaut Courtois for talks over the player's future on Monday.

I have to speak with my player, of course. "We have very good midfielders, but maybe a midfielder with different characteristics".

Upon signing the deal, Pedro told Chelsea's official website: "It's important for me to continue with Chelsea, I am comfortable here and want to win new titles and trophies".

Willian has been linked with an exit and Pedro may have more of an important role this season.

"Courtois is the goalkeeper of the club, I don't know in the future", Sarri said. Under Sarri's guidance at Napoli, the Brazil-born midfielder had blossomed into one of Europe's most coveted players, and had risen to such heights in Italy that he was even anointed as the heir to the great Andrea Pirlo. "And so I hope to see from my team another step".
