Barr Says Her 'Political' Tweet was in Response to Obama's Iran Deal

  • Roseanne Barr disputes racist claims: 'I'm not that person'

Barr infamously tweeted a comparison of Jarrett to the film "Planet of the Apes" and the muslim brotherhood. The comedian also sat down for an interview with her longtime friend, Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, at a New York City comedy club and stressed that the tweet was political and not racist. "You were on Ambien", that she had been drinking, and that, "you once said to Larry King you suffer from multiple personality disorder". "That's what was in my head".

In the wide-ranging interview, Barr also told Hannity that her infamous 1990 performance of The Star-Spangled Banner, in which she shrieked the song, grabbed her crotch and spit on the ground, was a mistake, and said, "Well that's what the stupid pitcher told me to do".

"If she's watching", Barr said, turning directly to the camera, "I'm so sorry that you thought I was racist and that you thought my tweet was racist, because it wasn't, it was political". And you know I.I'm sorry if you felt harmed and hurt. I've apologized and explained and asked for forgiveness. I never meant that, and for that I apologize. It cost me everything, my life's work.

'I've apologised a lot, ' Barr said.

At another point, just before addressing Jarrett, Barr said, "I already have said I'm sorry for two months".

This is a complete departure from the story Barr told in 1991, in which she alleged in an interview with People that her father "molested me until I left home at age 17". "But there was a white woman named Roseanne Barr that showed up for me".

During an interview on her YouTube channel last week, Barr said ABC canned her without giving her opportunity to publicly explain herself.

As a result, the actress said she was shocked when the tweet was not interpreted this way and that people called her racist. "My values are in the middle", she said.

Jarrett, for her part, has largely sidestepped the controversy. I was so sad that people thought [the tweet] was racist.

"'I am a creative genius, and this is not a good feeling for an artist to be treated this way, and it's not a good feeling for a citizen, either", she said. And then everyone started saying I was a racist, which is like the worst thing you can call a Jewish person, especially someone like me, who grew up with Holocaust survivors.

"We could turn this into a really great, teachable moment", Barr told Hannity.

Production of a spinoff of the reboot, without Barr, was later given the green light by ABC.

"I was allowed under my contract to have 24 hours to correct any mistakes".

"How old were you when you were sexually abused?' Hannity asked in the interview, reports the Daily Mail".
