  • Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed tried his hand at bowling in his international career when he bowled a couple of overs against Zimbabwe in the fifth ODI here on Sunday

Imam-ul-Haq smashed his third century of the series and Fakhar Zaman became the fastest batsman to complete 1,000 runs in ODIs as Pakistan swept Zimbabwe 5-0 with a 131-run win in the fifth one-day worldwide on Sunday.

Captain Sarfraz Ahmed hailed "a great team effort" as Pakistan completed a series whitewash over Zimbabwe with a 131-run win in the fifth and final match on Sunday. He also became the country's highest scorer in any ODI, surpassing Saeed Anwar's 21-year old record of 194 runs against India.

Openers Fakhar Zaman and Imamul Haq were in red-hot form throughout the ODI series with both of them scoring 515 and 395 runs in the series respectively.

Hamilton Masakadza and Tinashe Kamunhukamwe got going with a 66-run opening stand, Zimbabwe´s best of the series, and though Zimbabwe never looked like threatening Pakistan´s total, the middle order did at least hold firm.

After surrendering meekly with the bat in the four previous ODIs, all Zimbabwe wanted was to bat out 50 overs to give a good account of themselves.

With that, Pakistan featured in yet another record of five-match series clean sweep; this is, therefore, Pakistan's 7th five match white wash in one day cricket. He sits behind only Indian captain Virat Kohli, who scored 558 runs earlier this year against South Africa.

While Fakhar's batting exploits have been the talk of the series and rightly so, it is easy to forget that his opening partner has had a stellar time as well. Ul-Haq has made a knack of converting his half-centuries into hundreds in his short career so far and he lived up to that reputation as he brought up his fourth ODI century and second in succession in just 97 balls. Azam hit nine fours and two sixes and completed his eighth ODI century. Imam, the nephew of batting legend Inzamam, scored his 4th ODI century in 9 innings.

"We took each match one by one and the credit goes to the players as they were focused and didn't take Zimbabwe lightly", he said.
