I think the Raptors are in the driver's seat.

Kawhi Leonard might be heading north for the season.

"The Toronto Raptors, I think they're in the driver's seat for Kawhi", Windhorst shared. And with the Nets, Bulls and Hawks spending their cap space, it makes it harder to assemble a multi-team trade.

In an otherwise slow news cycle in the National Basketball Association - hey, look: the Sacramento Kings just traded for former Sacramento Kings draft bust Ben McLemore! - the rumour mill continues to churn on the Kawhi Leonard trade front.

Lowe responded that if he were running the Raptors, he would offer DeMar DeRozan, Pascal Siakam, and at least one first-round pick. Leonard was one of 35 players invited to participate in the camp, which will be led by Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.

Last week we covered the two fundamental risks involved in dealing for Leonard. Additionally, Leonard would be ineligible for a supermax contract if he signs with a new team as a free agent next summer. Because Leonard is a player teams fear could be a one-year rental, many offers are modified.

Charania also reports that DeRozan has expressed his displeasure towards the thought of being traded for Leonard after being notified of the potential move late Tuesday night. But the Spurs asking price - reported to be Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart and multiple picks (or: all of their assets) - was too high and the Lakers seem content to see how their talented young nucleus responds to playing alongside LeBron James next season.

The Spurs are hoping to land an All-Star caliber player and picks in exchange for Kawhi, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski.

Leonard and Popovich reportedly met in San Diego days later to determine if the two sides could fix the relationship.

Leonard, 27, officially became eligible for a five-year, $221 million super-max-level extension on Monday, but there is no expectation he will sign such a deal with the Spurs.
