Will £62m be enough to land Alisson?

The Liverpool Echo reports that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp "simply couldn't wait any longer" and risk seeing the Brazilian gloveman snapped up by a European rival, and so the Liverpool board has sanctioned the move for the 25-year-old Roma keeper.

Monchi, the Director of Sport at the Italian outfit, said recently that Roma don't need to sell to balance the books but such a big offer, a world receord fee for a goalkeeper, would be a windfall which any club would find hard to resist.

Liverpool have bid £62 million for Roma's Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson as they seek a replacement for Loris Karius.

Liverpool have reportedly bid 70 million Euro for the keeper plus add-ons.

This particular transaction, if it happens, would be record setting as Roma shot stopper Alisson Becker could become the world's most expensive goalkeeper.

SkySport Italia claim the Reds have submitted an offer for the goalkeeper.

However, the German youngster's confidence is rock bottom following his horror-show against Real Madrid in the Champions League final and he made another gaff during Liverpool's friendly with Tranmere last week, so it looks like Klopp has finally given up on the 25-year-old.

Liverpool had been deterred from pursing that interest at the start of the summer by Roma's asking price. And the good news from Liverpool's point of view is that they won't need to pay a fee for the player. So many observers have suggested Karius was not up to the job of being first choice keeper for the club and that decision came back to bite him. The 25-year-old initially made an encouraging return to the side but his two terrible errors in the Champions League final undermined his first choice claims and he made another mistake in last week's pre-season friendly at Tranmere Rovers.
