The Manchester United midfielder has struggled to find his best form following his €105m transfer from Juventus in 2016, and was dropped by Jose Mourinho on number of occasions last season.

Manchester United midfielder Pogba was at it again before France defeated 10-man Uruguay 2-0 in Nizhny Novgorod for a place in the World Cup semi-finals.

Pogba has played well at the World Cup, being a key part of France's run to the final and even attracting praise from long-term detractors such as Graeme Souness.

He spoke about wanting to be a leader in the team before the tournament and he's definitely followed through on that promise.

"That's it, there is no turning back anymore", said Pogba before the game.

"I've been a critic of his back in the United Kingdom and I wouldn't back off the things I've said about him, but I see a different Paul Pogba in this competition", Souness added. "We're going to continue". We will meet on July 15, ' he told his team-mates in the changing room.

'It's for guys like this that we are going to fight.

"Today Blaise is on the bench, he's disappointed, he's annoyed!" Pretty well. But it's likely Man United were expecting a little more from their man when they paid over the odds for the player they once had on their books in the youth system.

He was on target in a 4-2 final triumph over Croatia, having starred throughout the competition after being granted the freedom by his country which is often denied him at club level. We are all determined. Like we already have done.

'Always more! We have to beat the best to be the best'.
