George Clooney released following motorcycle crash in Italy

George Clooney was briefly hospitalized on Tuesday after he was hit by a auto while riding his scooter on the Italian island of Sardinia.

Reuters George Clooney managed to walk away from a scary scooter crash on the island of Sardinia.

The John Paul II hospital in Olbia confirmed Clooney was treated there and released after Tuesday's accident.

Clooney underwent an MRI but was quickly discharged as he experienced no serious inuries.

"He is recovering at home and will be fine", a representative for Clooney told People.


"The vehicle driver called the 112, the emergency number of Carabinieri, and they sent the Municipal Police, an ambulance and the Fire Dept".

Clooney relocated his family to Sardinia for the summer so he could direct and star in the six-episode mini-series based on the novel by Joseph Heller.

The newspaper La Nuova Sardegna said the 57-year-old Clooney was heading to a film set when the accident happened at a curve in the road near the entrance to the Costa Corallina residential compound in the province of Olbia.

Clooney is a frequent visitor to Italy.

He and his barrister wife were spotted zipping around the island on a Yamaha motorcycle together days after landing in Sardinia, with Amal clinging on to George as they shopped for cheese.

Clooney has a home on the Italian mainland, on Lake Como.
