  • Johnpiere's most recent post she showed employees finishing up their tasks at the store which is covered in neon sale signs before locking the doors for the last time

In a statement, the company told Mirror Online: "There have been many sad moments for Toys "R" Us in recent weeks, and none more heartbreaking than today's news about the passing of our beloved founder, Charles Lazarus".

A picture of Geoffrey the Giraffe leaving Toys "R" Us is pulling on the heartstrings of former Toys "R" Us kids as the chain closes for good Friday.

The company is continuing to operate stores in Europe and Australia, as well as 255 licensed stores and joint venture partnerships in Asia, which were not part of the bankruptcy filing.

In the wake of this historic retail event, a photo of the store's mascot, Geoffrey the Giraffe, standing in an empty store with a suitcase, is going viral.

"One day, all of us will get separated from each other".

Advocates say 33,000 Toys "R" Us workers should be entitled to $75 million in severance to help pay the bills while they look for look for another job. We will miss our conversations of everything, and nothing, and the dreams we had.

This disappointed a steady stream of last-day shoppers who arrived, dejected, to find doors locked. "My heart is breaking", Johnpiere wrote with a photo of the store's sale signs.

And the people of the internet are endlessly sad about it, with many taking to Twitter to reveal their heartbreak.

Toys R Us filed for Chapter 11 reorganization last fall and pledged to stay open, but had poor sales during the critical holiday season as customers and vendors shied away. "I was surrounded by children".

So, it would seem those discussions have progressed far enough for Toys "R" Us to some hope to fans through that initial post.
