  • President Heads to ND for MAGA Rally

Back home in North Dakota, Heitkamp's party focused on a self-described "grassroots" effort, according to party Communications Director Alex Rich, to share its "North Dakota First" message. Heidi Heitkamp. Republicans see Heitkamp's seat as a key pickup opportunity in their battle to keep the Senate in GOP hands.

Well, that's now settled. "I said I'm not anxious about what's happened in the past, I just want to talk about what we're going to do moving forward", Cramer said.

"Senator Heitkamp's wild support for Hillary Clinton and her out-of-touch policies show exactly why she has no business representing North Dakotans in the U.S. Senate", said Tim Rasmussen, communications director for Cramer's campaign, "In recent weeks, Senator Heitkamp has attempted to convince North Dakotans of her conservative ideals and her alleged allegiance to President Trump".

"I think political speeches are political speeches", she said in a phone interview after the Fargo rally Wednesday, June 28. He'd been expected to be in the consideration for next speaker if Democrats retook the House in the November midterms.

Trump, campaigning for Republican Rep. Kevin Cramer, who is challenging Democratic Sen.

Crowley's loss was a shocking defeat.

He accused Heitkamp of working hand-in-hand with Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and Pelosi. Heidi Heitkamp, one of the most vulnerable Democrats seeking re-election. She also voted against some of his Cabinet nominees.

He criticized her for voting against Republican health care and tax legislation, and evoked loud boos when he said she voted against a bill "to stop late-term abortions". Heitkamp has described having a "friendly" relationship with Trump. Only, that doesn't seem to be in the works any time soon. "I'll always be with them and with you, 100 percent of the time", Cramer said. "We hope he's going to come". "We stood in line the whole time and got shut down right in front of the door".

Maybe all is well behind the scenes. Trump won North Dakota by a large margin in 2016.

Trump appears to have removed that impression with a full-throated attack on Heitkamp.

Republican Rep. Kevin Cramer, North Dakota's lone member of the U.S. House now running against incumbent U.S. Sen.

Anyway, some in the press also reported on Heitkamp's meeting with Trump as if it were a one-on-one affair.

"Anytime the president comes to North Dakota, that's a good thing for our state". Trump told a rally crowd in Fargo on Wednesday that Cramer loves the state and its people.

Trump also spent several minutes defending his administration's hard-line stance on immigration, once again repeating his assertion that the Democrats want "open borders" as an alternative.
