The most recent iteration of this trend is laid out in the viral video of a grown white woman calling the cops on an 8-year-old selling bottled water.

Ettel herself may not have actually thought so, as she later admitted in an interview with HuffPost that she only pretended to call the police - adding that it was the noise from the child that drove her to fake dial. According to her, the phone call was a culmination of several hours of "screaming" from the girl's mother.

"It was wrong and I wish I could take it back", she told the newspaper.

Ettel was also set to be one of the subjects of a documentary called Lady Buds, a film about women in the cannabis industry.

The video shows Ettel explaining that the girl was "illegally selling water without a permit", all while assuming a grimace reminiscent of the one worn by Jennifer Schulte, or BBQ Becky, which went viral.

Jordan was selling the water bottles outside the family's apartment building, which is across the street from AT&T Stadium, where the Giants were playing that day, Austin said.

Austin's cousin, Raje Lee, who posted about the incident on Twitter said her cousin was gifted four tickets to Disneyland by a man who heard about the story. Ettel said she had no problem with the little girl; the issue was with the girl's mother, and "just about being quiet". Now, she's now seeing the consequences of her actions. "She's calling police on an 8-year-old little girl". Ettel said she's getting online death threats, stating she feels "discriminated against".

Ettel - who runs a company that makes medical marijuana products for humans and pets - said the incident has left her feeling "horrible and heart-wrenched".

"On my property", Austin said.

"I tried to be polite but I was stern", Ettel said Monday on "Today".

Ettel says she, her former company, and even her customers have been harassed in the aftermath of the incident.

"This is my son selling water right at the same place of the poor little 8-year-old and nobody stopped him", said Cassindy Chow, whose son sells water without a permit.

She also thanked the family's supporters.

Another user going the name J'Schalla tweeted: "This is America, where a grown San Francisco woman will call the cops on an 8-year old girl for selling water outside of her apartment building".

It's something she says she now deeply regrets.

Magnolia Wellness in Oakland, Harborside Health Center in Oakland and San Jose, Barbary Coast Dispensary and SPARC, both in San Francisco, and Berkeley Patients Group, have all said on their social channels they are dropping Treatwell because of what its owner, Alison Ettel, did over the weekend.

"I should have never confronted her".
