The percentages, calculated in California out of searches for all three terms -"President Trump", "Kim Jong-un", and "Nobel Peace Prize" - 77%, 9% and 14%, respectively.

In the latest show of support amongst many calls from politicians, policy makers, and members of the general public to award President Donald Trump the Nobel Peace Prize, two Norwegian members of parliament have written a strong nomination letter to reinforce this suggestion.

President Barack Obama, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, is the most recent American recipient. "This president is actually going to earn it".

Christian Tybring-Gjedde and Per-Willy Amundsen belong to Norway's right-leaning Progressive Party, which favors small government and low taxes, and they hold anti-immigration and anti-Muslim views.

In the US, the gap widens with President Trump showing a 100-point jump to Kim Jong-un's 37-point increase.

In May, 18 Republican members of the US Congress formally submitted Mr Trump's name for the Nobel Peace Prize "in recognition of his work to end the Korean war, denuclearise the Korean peninsula and bring peace to the region".

Trump also put forward as a candidate in 2016 and 2017.

If he is not invited to Oslo next year - or at any time during his presidency - the soonest the world will find out if Mr Trump was ever considered for the Nobel Peace Prize is 2069.

He was the second oldest person to assume the USA presidency when he took office in 2017.

A record 330 people were nominated for the 2018 award.

The Nobels in economics, literature, physics and medicine are awarded in Sweden.

Trump declared on Wednesday that "there is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea".

Former President Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 for his "extraordinary efforts to strengthen global diplomacy and co-operation between peoples", although the decision was highly controversial.
