  • TCL gives the Black Berry Key2 a separate Chinese launch amidst big retail push

The rear dual camera unit is made up of 12MP+12MP sensors accompanied with dual tone LED flash. The smartphone is expected to come equipped with 6GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, which can be expanded up to 2TB with a microSD card.

Leaked images of the phone show it with a subdued gray and black appearance with perhaps a slightly more spacious keyboard layout. Front/Selfie camera is an 8MP unit.

This Thursday, June 7, BlackBerry will be hosting an event in New York City to unveil the KEY2 - the successor to last year's excellent BlackBerry KEYone.

Weeks after being certified at the FCC, the upcoming BlackBerry flagship is all set for an unveiling in NY followed by a launch event in China bringing us closer to the possibility of seeing the successor of BlackBerry KEYone in India soon.

The back of the BlackBerry KEY2 also seems to have distinct diamond pattern for added grip for holding the smartphone.

Thanks to the serial leakster known as Evan Blass, we now know that the BlackBerry Key2 totes a 4.5-inch IPS LCD with 1620 x 1080 resolution and 3:2 aspect ratio. The smartphone will also feature a four-row QWERTY physical backlit keyboard with capacitive touch support. Recently, BlackBerry had already released a teaser where they revealed several details about the hardware structure of the product, including the dual camera.

Connectivity options will include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC and USB 3.1 Type-C port. That apart the device is expected to run Android Oreo. However, its price in India was steep and devices like the OnePlus 5T offered more value for money. The manufacturer of the phone, TCL, has upgraded the Key 2 to a Snapdragon 660 from the Snapdragon 625 processor.

In fact, we even know the likely price, as in a separate tweet Blass has claimed that it will cost $649 / £579 (around AU$1,015).
