Cavs' Love, Thompson avoid suspension for Game 1 altercation

  • Golden State Warriors Klay Thompson reacts after making a 3-point basket against the Houston Rockets during the fourth quarter of Game 6 of the NBA Western Conference finals at Oracle Arena in Oakland Calif. on Saturday

The NBA has fined Tristan Thompson $25,000 for his involvement in the skirmish in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the league announced.

In fairness to Thompson, anyone would've found it hard to refrain from reacting to the irritating mocking coming from Green, and he did justify his foul on Livingston fairly soundly after the game.

Kevin Love, who was not in the game at the time, could be hit with a one-game suspension for stepping on the court while an altercation was ongoing. However, Love said he was not anxious about receiving disciplinary action from the league for the sequence. "I was already on the court trying to get the refs' attention before the scuffle".

Thompson was ejected after he aggressively contested a shot attempt from Shaun Livingston.

"I don't care about that incident", Green told ESPN.

Information from ESPN's Chris Haynes and Dave McMenamin was used in this report. Whilst their absences likely won't alter the outcome of game two, it could really hurt the Cavs' chances of defending their home court and going into game five all square. "If there is a shot clock differential, we're going to take a shot. We're not taking a turnover". "I mean, he's great on the [offensive] boards".

Kevin Love has every reason to be perturbed, considering the ruling nearly matches word for word his description of the play.

The Cavaliers' forward began taunting Curry, and the guard responded back as they had to be separated by Thompson, who then exchanged words with James.

According to several reports, Cavaliers forward Kevin Love will not be suspended for Sunday's Game 2.
