  • Fred drops massive Manchester United transfer hint on Instagram

The Brazil worldwide is linked with a move to United, with champions Manchester City having nearly landed the 25-year-old in January.

And AC Milan are ready to sign him on a free transfer, with Fellaini reportedly telling United he has no intention of staying.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Manchester United hold an interest in a surprise deal to sign West Ham United attacker Marko Arnautovic this summer.

And yet, rumour has it he's now planning to splash £50 million on Shakhtar Donetsk's Fred and upwards of £150 million on Gareth Bale. Shakhtar have lined up Maycon from Corinthians as a replacement.

Fred joined the Ukrainian side in 2013 from Internacional in his native Brazil. He stated that both Manchester United and Manchester City have been interested in him for a while, but that the Red Devils have made the most significant progress. Fred is pretty quick and that would definitely prove handy for Manchester United in the fast-paced Premier League.

He will be part of Brazil's squad that will play against Croatia at Anfield and is known for his all-action displays.

The stage is set for Mourinho and Fred next season, now let's see if they will shine. "And we had enough strength to reject it".

The potential signing of Fred is an interesting one as he is in many ways quite similar to Paul Pogba.

The Brazilian worldwide has excelled during his time at Juventus and he'd be a top-class long term replacement for Ashley Young - who turns 33 in July.

Fred is a box to box midfielder, known for his incisive passing and through balls.

Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Willian from Chelsea are also understood to be on Mourinho's transfer shortlist.
