  • Woman escapes armed boyfriend after passing note to dog's vet

According to the sheriff's office, Floyd pointed the gun at her in the vehicle and threatened to kill her and her family.

He's being held without bail in Volusia County Branch Jail on a slew of charges, including domestic violence, aggravated assault with a firearm, and false imprisonment. On Friday, she convinced him to let her take their dog to the DeLand Animal Hospital, but he insisted on coming with her. She says Floyd would not let her leave, and when the two wrestled over a gun, two shots were fired. She said her boyfriend Jeremy Floyd, 39, repeatedly hit her that night, and threatened her at gunpoint. "Please don't let him know", the note reportedly read. The case was then handed to Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

The woman was taken to the hospital and treated for a head wound, a black eye, bruises on her arms and legs, and scratches on her hands and fingers, the News-Journal reported. She eventually convinced him that her dog needed to go to the DeLand Animal Hospital, according to a police report.

- Volusia County deputies say a terrified Carolyn Reichle passed a note to staff at a DeLand animal hospital. When investigators escorted Reichle home, they discovered two bullet holes in the hallway from an earlier struggle over the gun, the Sheriff's Office wrote.

During the drive to the veterinarian, deputies say Floyd pointed the handgun at the woman, threatening to kill her and her family.

Floyd beat Reichle so badly that she spent all of Thursday laid up in bed with a head injury, according to authorities.

Officers detained Floyd and contacted the Volusia County Sheriff's Office because it was domestic violence case.
