  • Suspect In Custody After Shooting At Indiana Middle School

A former Southern Illinois University at Carbondale football player who is now a teacher at a Noblesville, Indiana Middle School is being hailed as a hero after tackling a school shooter.

The outlet spoke to his brother, Jeremy, who said Jason Seaman "has never been a person to run away". After the photographer asked her again, Rousey said she would make it happen for Seaman if he wanted that.

"There a male student at Noblesville West Middle School who has been detained", said Kevin Jowitt, Noblesville Chief of Police.

The alleged shooter had asked to be dismissed from the class before returning with the guns.

"Immediately Mr. Seaman was yelling and running right at him and tackled him to the ground", Ethan said.

Seaman's mother, Kristi J. Hubly Seaman, posted Friday on Facebook that Jason was "doing well" after surgery.

Jason Seaman was wounded during the shooting, but he was recently released from the hospital. By Saturday he had been discharged from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and was photographed at Noblesville West Middle School shaking hands with U.S. Rep. Susan W. Brooks.

Also injured was 13-year-old Ella Whistler, whose family said was in critical but stable condition. He said his girlfriend's sister was in a classroom adjacent to the shooting.

IndyStar is getting conflicting information about how Seaman intervened, but many students and their parents have said he saved the lives of his students.

A student told WCPO that Seaman's actions stopped more from being injured by the shooter.

She says: "I got a "Mom, I'm scared" text message and other than that, it was 'come get me at the high school'".

Local news outlets identified the injured teacher as Jason Seaman, a science teacher and football coach, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Seaman was shot three times: once in the stomach, hip and arm.
