  • Parents in US sue 30-year-old son as he refuses to move out of their house

A USA judge has ordered a 30-year-old man to move out of his parents' house after they went to court to have him ejected.

Judge Donald Greenwood ordered Michael Rotondo to vacate his childhood bedroom in his central NY parents' home, in a case that has attracted worldwide attention.

The parents said subsequent letters they sent included offers to help him financially and advice to get a job, but their son ignored all of them, Fox 5 reports.

Rotondo, who occupies a bedroom in the property, claimed that as a family member he was legally entitled to a six-month notice period.

After court, Rotondo told reporters he plans to appeal the case and finds the ruling "ridiculous". "They don't provide laundry or food", he said. The couple's lawyer said he;d like to get an eviction notice that would be enforceable by the sheriff.

"Michael, here is $1,100 from us to you so you can find a place to stay", a February 18 letter starts.

He said while he lived under the same roof as his parents, he did not speak to them.

"Michael Joseph Rotondo, You are hereby evicted from 408 Weatheridge Drive, Camillus, New York effective immediately", one letter read.

The case, which pitted Michael Rotondo against his parents, has made worldwide headlines.

Mark and Christina Rotondo wanted their son Michael out of their home in Camillus.

He also ordered adult protective services to investigate.

The parents filed an official eviction petition on May 7.

"I am just so outraged", he said outside court.

"Michael, here is $1100 from us to you so you can find a place to stay", a letter from February 18 starts. They did tell him to get a job and move his broken-down auto.

In a redacted filing, Michael also said he runs his own "successful" business, calling it "the overwhelmingly superior choice for the economic well being over the working of a full-time job".

"I just want a reasonable amount of time to vacate with the consideration of the fact that I was not really prepared to support myself at the time I was served these notices", he said.

"I want you out of that household", Greenwood told him, according to ABC News.
