  • Cashier-less store coming to Illinois

While the Amazon Go store in Seattle doesn't bear Whole Foods' branding, it does stock plenty of the store's signature 365 brand products.

There were earlier signs that Amazon had its eye on Chicago and San Francisco.

Amazon plans to open cashierless stores in Chicago and San Francisco, according to the Chicago Tribune.

However, as per sources, Amazon is now hiring for managers for similar stores in San Francisco and Chicago.

Customers, who need to have Amazon's Go smartphone app, swipe their phone on the way into the store.

Now there is only one Amazon Go store: a small space located in the base of one of its Seattle skyscrapers that opened to the public in January.

After shoppers check in by scanning their unique QR code, overhead cameras work with weight sensors in the shelves to precisely track which items they pick up and take with them. As the customers move through the store, each item is added to their digital tab.

Amazon is already in the grocery business.

Their account will be charged once they leave the store.

It serves as a remarkably fast in-and-out experience for those looking to quickly grab and go. "No lines, no checkout", according to the company. But curiosity also followed when Amazon opened its first bookstore in 2016.

However, with time, that could change, making the possibility of a true revolution in the way we interact while making an purchase in a normal shop. And on Sunday, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that Amazon planned to open a store near the city's Union Square, with a formal announcement expected within weeks.
