  • Jamaal Lascelles of Newcastle United walks off the pitch after being sent off during the Barclays Premier League match between Everton and Newcastle United at Goodison Park on February 3

At a normal well-run club you would have the fans only looking forward to next season now...but this is Newcastle United and Mike Ashley.

Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles is paying little attention to speculation suggesting that he could be a summer transfer target for Chelsea and Everton.

"I don't care if you're a top-class player or a basic player, hard work is just a basic of the game".

'On many occasions throughout the season they have been described as a Championship side, which I personally consider to be derogatory.

He said: "It's clear after staying up - that was the main thing - you have the potential, you have everything to fight and to be in the top 10". We have to do a lot of things right and to start making the right decisions now. "We have to have confidence in this team".

The result gave Benitez revenge for the 3-1 defeat Newcastle suffered at Stamford Bridge in December 2017 and he called for owner Mike Ashley to invest in his squad this summer.

Without some cast-iron guarantees on both scores, he will not be signing up to an extended stay. "We have a couple of players on loan who are leaving (Kenedy and Islam Slimani), and a couple of players who have finished their contract too (Jesus Gamez and Massadio Haidara)".

We have an update to bring you on the current condition of the Newcastle United squad ahead their clash with Chelsea this Sunday, thanks to Physio Room. "They are different in terms of characteristics, but the team could do well with one or the other one".

"The medical staff, fitness coaches and sports scientists have done a great job because we haven't had many injuries".

Ayoze Perez (9.5/10): Arguably the best player of the game, Ayoze Perez's incredible performance helped Newcastle register a thumping win over the Premier League giants.

"He will be one of the names in the head of the manager until the last minute".

"It is exactly the same as previous year. The fans appreciate this togetherness, and the relationship we have created".
