Trump could defy Mueller subpoena: Lawyer

  • Trump walks back Giuliani: 'He'll get his facts straight'

President Donald Trump's top personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, said "we don't have to" comply with a subpoena from Robert Mueller's special counsel investigation and left open the possibility that Michael Cohen may have made payments to other women on behalf of Trump.

Ok, so either Michael Cohen gave Stormy Daniels $130,000 out of his own pocket so she would shut up about an affair she had Donald Trump-or he didn't.

Giuliani, who has contradicted the president on when he learned of the payment, has said he's still learning the facts of the case.

Rudy Giuliani, President Donald Trump's newest lawyer, once again made waves on a political talk show over the weekend, this time talking about whether Trump would cooperate in the Russian Federation investigation.

After his interview with Hannity, Giuliani went on a media blitz in which he said his revelation about the reimbursement was made with Trump's approval.

Giuliani says Trump could use his constitutional right to refuse to answer any questions that might incriminate him.

"Not after the way they've acted", he said.

That type of arrangement is "very common among celebrities and people of wealth", he said in a subsequent message.

But Giuliani revealed last week that Trump had reimbursed Cohen for that payment and other unspecified items.

But Conway said during an interview with CNN's "State of the Union" that she is also not aware of any additional payments.

To make more of a splash, the show crammed a cavalcade of stars into the opening sketch: In addition to Baldwin, Ben Stiller played Trump attorney Michael Cohen; Martin Short was Trump's Dr. Bornstein; Scarlett Johansson played Ivanka Trump to Jimmy Fallon's squeaky-voiced Jared Kushner.

Cohen faces a criminal investigation in NY, where FBI agents raided his home and office several weeks ago seeking records about the Daniels nondisclosure agreement and other matters. Mr. Trump's last disclosure, which he signed last June, does not mention any debt to Mr. Cohen.

The newest lawyer on Team Trump is trying to avoid causing his client more trouble than he can solve. Adam Davidson wrote an article for the New Yorker saying "we know, with increasing certainty, that we are entering the last phase of the Trump Presidency".

The fake president suggests getting Rudy Giuliani - a recent addition to Trump's legal team - on the phone since, "he's got the sharpest legal mind since 'My Cousin Vinny.'" So the fake Cohen whips out a few burner phones (yes, he inexplicably keeps those) and begins making calls, only he doesn't seem to be too handy with numbers. Appearing on CBS's Face The Nation on Sunday, he said the following.

During a Fox News interview earlier in the week, Giuliani did link the payment to the presidential campaign and acknowledged for the first time that Trump was aware of the payment.

Kellyanne Conway said there was no credibility crisis at the White House.

Giuliani's comments Saturday come after he was forced to try to clean up his remarks from his debut interview as Trump's personal attorney.

Neither the payment nor the liability to Cohen was disclosed on the Trump campaign or the president's financial disclosures.

"I know this sounds amusing to people there at home".
