  • Guentzel scores four as Penguins eliminate Flyers in Game 6

Sean Couturier was the Flyers best player as he had a hat trick and two assists in their game six loss and also had the game-winning goal in game five just to get it to game six.

"Just trying to be around the net", Guentzel told NBC Sports after the game of his productive night.

The Patrick T. Lanigan Funeral Home & Crematory posted a note that read, "Help us send our condolences to the Philadelphia Flyers and their fans, with these custom prayer cards memorializing their run in the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs". "So pretty fortunate to be on the good end of them tonight". Crosby, naturally, tied the game when he knocked in a rebound off Kris Letang's point shot for his whopping sixth goal of the series.

It remains to be seen how much the Flyers will be able to close what is still a fairly sizable gap on upper-echelon teams like the Penguins.

The Penguins won without star forward Evgeni Malkin, who couldn't play because of an undisclosed injury suffered in game five.

"Yeah, it's never fun", he said. "We're just trying to roll with it as it goes".

It was a unusual series in that the home team lost five straight in a Flyers series for just the second time (the other was the first five games of the 1995 conference finals, a 4-2 loss to the Devils).

The Philadelphia Flyers avoided elimination by defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 5.

Pittsburgh is 50-37 straight up (SU) and has lost 3.5 units for bettors taking the moneyline this year.

"The Flyers gave it their all", Rutherford said.

The Flyers didn't make it to the postseason during the 2016-17 season. "It's too bad we didn't come with the result we wanted".

It was quite a bounce-back season for Colorado, which boasts one of the youngest teams in the league.

Couturier scored his second goal of the game just 40 seconds into the second. Flyers captain Claude Giroux boldly and correctly predicted his team would win Game 5, and he opened the scoring in that game with his first goal of the series.

Laughton later propelled the Flyers ahead 4-2 with a wrist shot from about 30 feet out at 12:14.

Colton Sissons almost gave Nashville the early lead in the first period, only to have his goal disallowed when officials ruled Kyle Turris interfered with Hammond. Austin Watson and Filip Forsberg each scored their fourth goals of the series before Nick Bonino and Viktor Arvidsson each notched their second.

"It was something special", Penguins goalie Matt Murray said of Guentzel's game.
