Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater is considering his future and may look to leave the club after only one season after growing frustrated over his bit-part role.

Chelsea legend, Marcel Desailly, has warned the club against sacking manager, Antonio Conte.

"That's only made things more comfortable for me, and now I want to progress even more".

The Chelsea star seems to be enjoying himself this season and with 14 goals across the Champions League, FA Cup, Premier League and the EFL Cup, he's become a highly sought after player especially after his performances in the first leg of the round of 16 against Barcelona.

'Before they've changed the coach, and kept the players.

Chelsea have won their last four league games against Southampton - they've never won five in a row against them. I like Chelsea. My dream was to come here to play for Chelsea so it's a dream come true.

The midfielder was brought in by Chelsea, following the departure of mainstay Nemanja Matic to Manchester United, with the hope of recreating the N'Golo Kante - Drinkwater partnership, that had fired Leicester City to a Premier League title back in the 2015/16 season.

"Everyone knows you can't go through a whole season not making a mistake, as a defender - it's impossible".

Desailly added that the club's decision to let Matic and Diego Costa go last summer has cost them dearly.

"So maybe that's five more wins and that's a big difference".

If the Ivory Coast worldwide arrives at the Stamford Bridge, Drinkwater's game time will take a further hit, given that he is already behind the likes of Kante, Cesc Fabregas and Tiemoue Bakayoko in the pecking order.
