  • Modi to observe fast with party MPs on April 12 to protest Parliament washout

"I appeal that you too collect people and hold fast in your constituencies and expose enemies of democracy and people who have been holding parliament to ransom", PM Modi said. The BJP holds opposition exclusively responsible for disruptions in Parliament because of which hardly any legislative business could be carried out, especially in the second half of the Budget Session.

Congress had also observed a fast April 9 to promote communal stability and harmony in the country. State BJP Chief Ministerial candidate and head of State unit B.S. Yeddyurappa, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs H.N. Ananth Kumar and a large number of workers will join Shah in his dharna to be held in front of Dharwad DC's office tomorrow.

BJP leaders said the party will observe the birth anniversary of Jyotiba Phule, a social reformer from backward caste, on April 11 as Samta Divas (equality day).

Earlier on Monday, Congress President Rahul Gandhi led the party's day-long fast at the Rajghat in Delhi over alleged increasing atrocities on Dalits, adivasis, and minorities and dubbed the Modi government as "anti-Dalit" while vowing to defeat the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Yesterday, it was announced that the PM will observe a day-long fast on April 12 along with BJP MPs including party president Amit Shah to protest against the washout of the second part of Parliament's budget session due to continuous disruptions, which the BJP blamed on the Congress.

The BJP and the Congress have blamed each other for the logjam in Parliament.

"This is a farce of a fast by the Modi government".

Now, Modi has also accused the opposition, especially Congress, of practicing divisive politics and causing chaos.
