Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi after 21 Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MPs were detained by police while marching towards his residence to demand special status for Andhra Pradesh.

On Friday the TDP MPs staged a protest inside the chamber of Lok Sabha's speaker Sumitra Mahajan after they failed to get an appointment with her.

According to reports, they were detained and taken to the Tughlaq Road Police Station.

The following day, they continued with their protests inside the Parliament premises as they were marshalled out from the office of Mahajan.

"They (Delhi police) behaved in an inhuman fashion, without even caring about the MPs' age".

"The demand being made by AP government and TDP for special status to the state is completely justified". They had to be forcefully removed later in the evening. The MPs were demanding special category status for Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, members of YSR Congress Party continue indefinite hunger strike at Andhra Pradesh Bhawan over demand of special category status for Andhra.

TDP's parliamentary leader Y S Chowdhary said, "We are fighting for Andhra Pradesh's five crore people". The party had subsequently issued no-confidence motion notices against the government.

Andhra Pradesh chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today condemned the detention of ruling TDP MPs in New Delhi by police as the "height of the Centre's oppressive attitude". West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had held a meeting with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief in Delhi last month in order to bolster support for a third front. Naidu met several leaders of opposition parties and BJP allies to garner support for the no-trust motion, but it wasn't taken up in the recently concluded session due to repeated adjournments in the parliament.
