Shooting of Palestinians in Gaza

  • Israeli websites hacked to display 'Jerusalem is the capital of Palestine'

"This is proof of the true intentions of the terror groups in Gaza who are trying to hide their murderous plans by staging provocations along our border whose sole goal is to provide cover for terrorists to carry out their attacks against Israel", he said.

The protest organizers said the Palestinians.

Palestinian health officials say a 25-year-old man has been killed in clashes with Israeli troops in the Gaza Strip.

The conflicts are part of a six-week long protest that began on Friday aimed at pressing Israel to give refugees right of return to the villages and towns where their families lived before 1948.

Allegations of excessive force and unlawful shootings were prompted by the death toll - Friday was the bloodiest day in Gaza since the 2014 Israel-Hamas war - and comments by military officials that the "main instigators" were targeted.

An Israeli rights group plans to urge Israeli soldiers to defy orders to fire on Palestinian protesters who for the last several days have held mass demonstrations on the Gaza-Israel border.

The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco) said it maintained its position that the Israeli Defence Force must withdraw from the Gaza Strip and bring to an end the "violent and destructive incursions into Palestinian territory". Earlier in the day, Hamas publicly acknowledged that five members of its military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, were among those killed.

Gaza's continued border closure has made governing increasingly hard for Hamas, an Islamic militant group sworn to Israel's destruction that seized control of Gaza in 2007.

On Wednesday, the IDF published a video from March 12 that showed the IDF boarding a Gaza fishing vessel from Rafah which had sailed beyond the permissible nautical line.

Abbas also praised Saudi Arabia for continuing to support the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, the statement said.

They affirmed their solidarity with the Palestinian people, calling on the United Nations to uphold their responsibilities and conduct an investigation into this "mascaras".

He called protests at the border "a clear provocation" and rejected calls for an independent enquiry into the killings.

'As for a commission of inquiry - there won't be one, ' he told Israeli Army Radio.

With Israel presenting itself as a leader in cyber-security, the stakes in fending off such attacks are particularly high.
