On the heels of the Tide Pod challenge comes a very unsafe new craze on social media: the condom-snorting challenge.

It should go without saying, of course, that snorting condoms is unsafe.

The challenge has been around for a while, but according to new reports, it has made a comeback on social media. Participants typically then post a video of the completed challenge to YouTube.

Even in a best-case scenario where someone ingests a condom and then manages to pull it out of their mouth without choking, getting it stuck, or accidentally swallowing the roughly seven-and-a-half inch piece of plastic, it's not a harmless prank.

Teenagers have moved on to snorting condoms rather than eating tide pods, according to a Fox News Monday report. Condom snorting can also block your breathing and cause you to choke, especially since the prophylactic is much larger than a nostril, according to Bruce Y. Lee, an associate professor of global health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, in a Forbes column.

As gross as it is, the challenge is also risky, with the condoms getting stuck in people throats and blocking their airways.

Much like people know in their hearts that they shouldn't eat Tide Pods or inhale copious amounts of cinnamon, people must realize that snorting condoms is a bad idea.

Health experts have urged teens not to take part because the rubber could potentially get caught in a person's airway and block their ability to breathe.

The condom-snorting challenge isn't even the only condom-related dare to gain traction. Another woman accidentally swallowed the condom and it blocked her appendix, leading to appendicitis.

The spermicidal lubricant found on most condoms can also irritate the inner lining of the nose and cause allergic reaction or infection. The challenge is extremely unsafe and even caught the attention of the American Association of Poison Control Centers, which warned about the risks of social media craze.
