  • Why Kamal Haasan apologized to Christopher Nolan?

Celebrated Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan, who has directed movies such as "Dunkirk", "Interstellar", "Inception", "The Dark Knight Trilogy" among others, has arrived in Mumbai for his three-day visit to India. On Friday, Christopher Nolan, who is in India with his wife Emma Thomas and children, kicked-off his Mumbai tour with a talk at the plaza of Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum in Mumbai.

The director was part of the event titled 'Reframing the future of film ' along with Dean organised by Film Heritage Foundation and hosted by its director, filmmaker-archivist Shivendra Singh Dungarpur.

Haasan writes, "Met Mr.Christopher Nolan". A visionary filmmaker, who has brought futuristic cinema to the big screen, he insists he's a traditionalist as far as filmmaking is concerned.

Dungarpur said: "After the roundtable, a few cinematographers, namely "Padmaavat" fame Sudeep Chatterjee and Santosh Shivan talked about shooting in films over digital, so, it seems the meeting turned out very fruitful". Nolan and Tacita Dean are coming to support the cause of celluloid film.

Asked about what made him stop using social media, Nolan said: "Well, I really don't have to think about Facebook".

The 52-year-old actor tweeted a picture of himself posing with the Oscar-nominated director, Christopher Nolan, an hour or so ago. He believes in the magic that films lend to the experience of watching a movie for any moviegoer. I intend to watch and discover more.

"What is very important as a film preservationist and as a filmmaker is that I have shown everything on celluloid".

She stressed that we should stop talking about film versus digital and start talking about film plus digital. Nolan is in India to promote the film restoration of 35mm and 70mm as Indian film industry is mostly functioning on the digital medium only. What is exciting about meeting people from Indian film industry is that there is a spirit of optimism, films having wonderful future. "Most of our cinematic heritage is in celluloid and therefore, its preservation will help not only save films but also film-making on film".
