Nanaiah, Srinivas and Ramakrishna are the former JD-S Members of the Legislative Council.

BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan, R Akhanda Srinivasamurthy, N Chaluvaraya Swamy and Bheema Naik are the four MLAs who lashed out at JD (S) party's senior leadership before submitting their resignations to Karnataka assembly speaker KB Koliwad, possibly with the intention of joining Congress this week.

On Monday, Shah began his two-day tour of poll-bound Karnataka by visiting and seeking blessings of Sri Shivakumara Swami of Siddhaganga Mutt in Tumakuru, a revered seer of the Lingayat community.

Farooq had earlier too contested from JDS during the biennial elections to fill four Rajya Sabha seats from Karnataka in June 2016 but had lost, as eight MLAs from the party voted in support of Congress candidate. Despite the shortfall in its strength with 37 members, including seven rebels, as against the required 44 votes, JDS had also fielded its candidate but boycotted the poll midway alleging electoral malpractice by the Congress in "collusion" with the returning officer.

Three days after calling the Janata Dal (Secular), the BJP's "B" team at a rally in Hassan, AICC President Rahul Gandhi continued his attack on the party, calling it 'Janata Dal Sangh Parivar!'

"They (JD-S) have to make it clear whether they are supporting the BJP, if yes, why?"

Praising Chief Minister Siddharamaiah and his welfare schemes, Rahul reiterated that the JD (S) was in an tacit alliance with the BJP and asserted that the Congress would win the forthcoming Assembly polls. Once all of them resign, they are said to have been assured of Congress tickets in next year's assembly elections. "The JD (S) stands for "Janata Dal Sangh Parivar", he added.

He also hit out at the BJP and RSS for harping on "One India" while the view of the Congress was of "One Nation".

Rahul had told the gathering, "I will tell you".

The Congress will win 126 seats this election, claimed the agency.

In August a year ago, C-Fore, a research organisation, had claimed that the Congress might win 120 to 132 seats, while the BJP, which has been trying hard to oust Siddaramaiah, would finish second with 60 to 72 seats.
