  • Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Prince Harry made his own visit to Northern Ireland in September a year ago, when he launched the peace-building initiative being celebrated Friday and visited Hillsborough Castle, the official residence of the royal family in the province.

The duo was later spotted greeting fans on Great Victoria Street and visiting Catalyst Inc's Belfast campus to speak with entrepreneurs.

They were greeted by dignitaries including Lord Mayor Nuala McAllister and East Belfast MP Gavin Robinson.

This comes after it was suggested that Prince Harry also wants to start a family, and sharpish too.

Pointing to one particularly product, Meghan told its designers, "I'm sure at some point we'll need the whole thing".

As they left, Ms Markle briefly took a detour to shake the hands of some of those still gathered outside. Prince Harry said, "She's done an absolutely fantastic job...it's the family that I suppose she's never had".

He explained: "I think she would be over the moon, jumping up and down, you know so excited for me, but then, as I said, would have probably been best friends - best friends with Meghan".

Earlier, they received a rapturous welcome from thousands of young people when they visited the former Maze paramilitary prison outside Lisburn, where teenagers from both sides of the Irish border had gathered for a peace-building event.

The couple's tour began at the Eikon Centre, near Lisburn, on Friday morning, where they were shown the work of wonderful the Space, a cross-community peace initiative.

The American actress and her fiance, on a whirlwind trip to the region, toured the Crown Liquor Saloon - a major tourist attraction in the city. There, they learned from the National Trust representatives about the pub's heritage and met with local musicians and comedians. Are you looking forward to watching Harry and Meghan's wedding? Traditionallywhen the royals marry, it's a wedding fruitcake - which is heavily iced and tiered and forms the centerpiece of the wedding breakfast table - but Meghan's going for something different. It is their first official joint visit to Northern Ireland.

Yesterday, after invitations were put in the post, the Royal Collection released designs for their official commemorative china: a range of white and cornflower blue with a monogram of the couple's initials at its centre.
